Abstract This work presents the implementation of a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) at 77 GHz, for automotive applications. is unique in sense that it radar-only solution most use-cases. The set-up consists two sensors, one to calculate ego trajectory and second SAR measurements. Thus need expensive GNSS-based dead reckoning systems, which are any case not accurate enough fulfill requirements SAR, eliminated. results presented here have been obtained from able deliver processed images matter seconds point where targets were measured. has accomplished using sensors will be commercially available near future. Hence easily reproducible since deployed radars special research prototypes. successful widespread use industry large step forward toward developing automated parking functions far superior today's systems based on ultrasound (short range) beam-forming algorithms. same short-range can used thus completely omitted vehicle.
